CITY APPROVES WECRD ANNEXATION REQUEST

On June 14, The City of Mountain Home finalized the ordinance to approve the annexation and re-zoning request made by the Western Elmore County Recreation District to annex just under 20 acres of land the WECRD owns  into city limits.  The land is located at 480 South 18th East, directly across from the Mountain Home Junior High,  High School ball fields and Eastside Park.  The WECRD has hired the  Treasure Valley YMCA to research and evaluate the feasibility of building a recreation center on the property.

WECRD ANNOUNCES NEW WEBSITE

The Western Elmore County Recreation District is announcing their new website is up and ready for the public to access.  Please check out www.wecrd.org. and let us know what you think!

In response to a growing demand by the community for a more sophisticated and up-to-date website, the WECRD hired Craig Hoyt of Varietus Creative Services LLC to host and maintain their new website.  Our new website will contain more features that were not offered on the old website.  In addition to posting all WECRD Board Meeting Minutes and Agendas for the current year, the site also will have information on the “Let’s Play” Youth Grant Program, regular YMCA and CLDC updates, WECRD history, current activities, fitness and health inspired stories and quotations, as well as links to community news and organizations.

“Our old WECRD’s website received complaints from the community, and rightfully so,” said WECRD board member Mollie Marsh.  “It was not user-friendly.   We didn’t have a smooth transition of updating information or deleting old material.”

The new website aims to correct these and other issues that plagued the old site.  “Our main goal with this new website is to get the most current information out to the public quickly, and remove outdated bulletins,” said Board President Marsha Sellers.  “We also want to make this an entertaining site and have included new features to improve our communications to the public.  We will post meeting agendas, pictures, health education articles, PowerPoint programs, cartoon cutouts and other things circling the subject of recreation and health...   Public response is important to us and with the new website the public will be able to contact us, fill out forms and electronically email them to our office.  We have a lot of fresh ideas including developing recreational programs, but our focus right now is getting this going so the public can use it,” said Sellers.
